PRESENTATION This association was created by the parents of a boy in 2003 when he got blind because of the pressure of a tumour in the optic nerves when he was only three years old. Our story Beyond our fight against the cancer specialist told us that his nerves were atrophied and that nothing could be done. They also told us that it would be very hard for the science to find a solution. Hopes Through our search of information in the net we have got in touch with centres and people who works investigating on, we are talking about the most important experts of this studies in the whole world, they have answered us that there are many possibilities that our son could recover his vision in the future and that there are many scientific information to have expectations. Hopes. Where? The eye’s research institute of Schepens is an affiliated of the Harvard’s Medicine School and it’s the biggest independent eye’s research institute in the world. They are doing an important and hopeful investigation to give a solution to regenerate the optic nerve. Scientists of the Boston Life Sciences have identified the specific carbohydrates (sugars) which are able to stimulate the regeneration of the optic nerve. There are other important researches in different centres of the world that are working to pull the same objectives off. Some of these centres are included in the section investigations. Difficulties Beyond the incertitude of the science possibilities of giving a solution there are a investment requirement , there are research projects to regenerate the optic nerve which are not being realized because o the financial problems. The improvement of these budgets would make a faster the appearance of the results we are looking for. People who are interested and affected by this problem have to join up ,this way we could help each other and look for the way to promote the in researches. There are many millions of people affected by the optic nerve. The net allows us (all or a great part of the affected) could get in touch.
